My idea is to hook up some water barrels into the hot water system. That is to unhook the source of water from the hot water tank and hook it into a water barrel as the source and then hook from the water barrel into the actual hot water tank. In this way as one uses hot water the hot water tank gets its water source from the water barrel and the water barrel gets replenished from the origional water line that was initially used for the hot water tank. My thought is that in this way fresh water is always going into the water barrel therefore one does not need to be concerned of water contamination. I'm am assuming that one can seal all the openings of the water barrel so that the water pressure is contanined. If there were any concern of water contamination, that would not be of any real concern for in normal situation when does one dring hot water from the tap. One takes a shower, washes hands, washes clothes, The dish washer has its own water heating element. If this works then one can add more inline water barrels. Therefore in a water emergency one has the hot water tank and the water barrel as emergency source of water. Have you heard anyone doing this sucessfully? Or what is your opinion on it?
